PLCTag - Trailer Tracking Device
The PLCTag is used in fleet tracking to provide identification information to a reader device to ensure the connected equipment can be identified, tracked and verified. The PLCTag also ensures that the correct trailer (or similar) is attached to the right tractor. Its small size (approx I.5 inches square) means the tracking device can usually be mounted inside a trailer's J560 housing.

PLCTag - Trailer Tracking Device
Prolificx’s PLCTag is typically used to track a trailer or dolly and is used to provide identification information to a reader device. This allows connected equipment to be automatically identified and tracked, and verifies that the correct equipment is attached.
Its small size means it can usually be mounted inside a trailer's SAEJ560 housing
In addition to a factory programmed unique ID, the PLCTag has a 12 character user programmable ID so user definable naming conventions can be used. The user programmable ID can be programmed in-system with a programming tool.
The PLCTag is based around a communication standard called PLC4Trucks which uses the power wires of a vehicle to transmit the signals.
The PLCTag when used in conjunction with a reader device such as our Vector 300GWP, is able to:
- Detect trailer hook and drop hook events
- Track trailer equipment in realtime
- Report distance
- Provide gate arrival and departure warning
The PLCTag also has two digital inputs which can be used to monitor and track the status of door switches, lamps, or other digital sensing equipment.
